It’s my first post of the year and I am starting off with a big one. At the end of last Oyster & Pearl Design was crowned the South West Best Stationer for a second year in a row at The 2017 Wedding Industry Awards.

To say I am over the moon is a bit of an understatement, I felt I owed it to myself to enter the awards again as I had a title to defend, not thinking for a single second that I would win. I was thrilled to bits to become a finalist and went along to the award ceremony at the Old Down Estate in Bristol just for the chance of a night (my first since Thomas’s arrival) and to catch up with a few friends.

The wedding stationery category was extremely tough this year and the four other finalists (Sincerely May, De Winton Paper Co, Dearly Beloved & Fizzy Lemonade) are all top class. Thomas came along with us and absolutely stole the show, officially the event was over 18 but they made an exception in our case as Thomas was over 18 weeks and promised to behave beautifully (which he did)!

When my name was called, the organisers started chanting, ‘bring him up’ ‘bring him up’ so I took Thomas on stage with me to accept the award.

To have retained my title for a second year in a row is such an incredible for Oyster & Pearl. The Wedding Industry Awards is the biggest accolade in our industry and to have this recognition is unbelievable.

There were also successes on the night for Kate Walker Bridal who won The Best Designer Category and The Pickle Shack and Upton Barn who were both highly commended in their categories.

The national finals were held on the 12th January 2017 at the Cafe de Paris, London where the overall winner The Foil Invite Company was announced.

I could not be more proud to have made it this far alongside such stationery greats as Eagle Eyed Bride, Loveli, The Foil Invite Company, Mary Loves Bob & Phylecia Sutherland.

The best bit about entering these awards is that once they are over you get to read the voter comments and I can honestly say that I am completely overwhelmed by them. Words cannot explain what this means to me, I really do feel like I have the best job in the world, and to hear how happy my stationery designs have made people this year is quite incredible.
