Exactly two weeks ago we were excitedly on our way to the gorgeous Maunsel House for The Wedding Industry Awards South West regional final. Making the most out of this opportunity we decided to share a taxi with Claire and Richard from Upton Barn, and Kim and her husband Paul from Abidemaids. We were all just so thrilled to be going and for the chance of a night out, certainly none of us expected to win, let alone all three!!

Arriving at the venue we were greeted with cocktails and canapés before taking the opportunity to explore the house; I had not been there myself although one of my brides was married there earlier this year. It really is the most spectacular venue, crammed full of curiosities and antiques and not to mention a very large collection of guns that went down particularly well with the boys!

Another reason I was so excited to be attending was the chance to finally meet some of my fellow stationery designers, especially Catherine from the brilliant Sincerely May who I had met virtually but not in person.

It was a full house by the time the awards were announced by TWIA founder Damien Bailey, nervously waiting for each of our categories it was fantastic to see how thrilled each of the winners were as accepted their trophies. Kim’s category for Best Designer / Dressmaker as the first up from out little group and unsurprisingly she was announced the winner. The crowd went wild!

To my utter shock Oyster & Pearl was then declared the winner of the stationery category. Even two weeks on I still cannot believe that this has happened, to have won this award is beyond anything I ever imagined for Oyster & Pearl, especially being relatively new to the industry.

Upton Barn and Walled Garden completed the hatrick by taking home the title for Best Countryside Venue and Best Newcomer; it really was a night to remember for us all. Celebrations all round.

Having won the regional awards we now automatically become national finalists. The national winners for each category will be announced live on stage at the final award ceremony on the 15th of January at The Café de Paris in London.

It goes without saying that I will of course keep you posted on our progress although to have made it this far is quite simply a dream come true.
